Here's what you need to know to get started:
 
1. First, place your order below using the dropdown menus that apply to your desired type of pet portrait beside this post. You can select from a variety of different sizes from the “Size” dropdown and whether you'd like a plain or detailed background by selecting from the "Plain/Detailed Background” dropdown.
 
If you select the "plain background," option, I will choose colors that I feel best compliment your pet. If you choose a "detailed background," I will use the background displayed in your reference photo.
 
Additionally, you can select from a variety of dimensions and whether you'd like a single, double, or portrait of multiple pets (up to 5).
 
I mostly paint dogs and cats, but I can paint any animal, including humans.
 
Additionally, I can include up to five animals (including humans) in a piece, but the actual number really depends on size. Please contact me if you'd like more, and I will create a special listing just for you.
 
2. Second, please send me as many reference photos as you can of your furry friend to Samara@SamaraDoumnandeArt.com or by emailing me here. Once I receive the photos, I will assist you on deciding which reference photo to use for your new pet portrait.
HINT: The best reference photos are taken outdoors, with good lighting and have a high resolution.
 
3. Once we decide on a photo(s), I will begin the process of painting your furry friend. Once the painting is completed, I will send you a photo of the finished painting, so that you may give feedback on anything you’d like to change before letting it dry to ship. (I won’t ship the painting until you are completely satisfied.) It should take me no longer than a week or two to complete your painting, but it may take a bit longer if you’ve ordered a larger piece.
 
4. As soon as you are satisfied with the painting, I will ship it to you and provide you with tracking info. I paint all of my pet portraits in rich oil colors which create beautiful results. However, please know that because of the nature of oil-- it being a wet medium-- your painting may take 1 to 2 weeks to dry before I can ship it to you safely. So, the entire process usually takes around 2-4 weeks.
 
All of my original oil paintings are painted on stretched canvas with no need to frame but you can if you like the look.
